We can better get prepared for the unpredictable in the future
Retirement has been differed from the past.
In the past, at least in our grandparents' generation, people entered the workforce in early adulthood. Combined with a shorter life expectancy at the time, their time spent in retirement was significantly shorter than their working years and consequently tended to require less retirement capital. The sources of income after retirement was traditionally aimed at Social Security and corporate pensions, which were largely sufficient at their retirement ages. It allowed them to enjoy a comfortable retirement without relying heavily on personal savings.
However, time has largely altered.
Two types of assets
Two types of assets that we owned.
-
Funds designated for growth (Investment Capital).
-
Funds designated for preservation (Safe Money).
To achieve capital growth, you typically must accept a higher degree of risk. Safe money, on the other hand, provides essential liquidity and a security buffer, and should therefore be allocated to highly secure, conservative vehicles.
What non-traditional alternatives can I use to supplement my current retirement strategy?
